Heeramuni Diggi is one sister among five brothers. But it hasn’t taken her long to decide that she is the champion among them.
Born into the family of a marginal farmer, Vir Singh Diggi, in Malpani village of West Singhbhum, Heeramuni has a penchant for track and field events.
Heeramuni came first in the 800-metre Jharkhand Olympic Association event held in Ranchi in 2019. She has won several medals at various other state level track events too.
At the East Zone National Junior Athletic Championship events held at Patna in 2018, she bagged the silver medal in the 800-meter race and bronze in the 400-meter hurdle. The Indian Tribal get a chance to watch Heeramuni came first in the 800-meter Jharkhand Olympic event held in Ranchi in 2019. She has won several medals at various other state-level track events too.
The 21-year-old is pursuing her graduation from JLN College, Chakradharpur. “My brothers have little interest in games and sports. But I am determined to make them feel proud,” she smiles.
