Carrying forward his predecessor’s work, Chief Minister Champai Soren on Friday distributed Abua Awas Yojana certificates to beneficiaries even while cautioning officers against any irregularities.
“If so, it would result in the Block Development Officer being held responsible and facing legal consequences,” the Chief Minister warned in the presence of over 5,000 attendees, including women, from remote areas of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts under the Kolhan Division, at the Gopal Maidan here.
While the Chief Minister announced a policy shift in the electricity sector, declaring that consumers would now receive free power up to 125 units, an increase from the previous 100-unit limit, he also pledged to enhance the irrigation system in the Kolhan region, planning to implement a network of canals in the areas.
Champai did not miss out the occasion to hit out at the Centre and the BJP for unleashing Central investigative agencies like the ED against leaders like Hemant Soren. Congress legislator Banna Gupta and JMM MLA from Jugsalai Mangal Kalindi, both of whom shared the stage with the Chief Minister, also attacked the Centre over Hemant.
