‘Love in 90s’, the first-ever movie based on the Tagin community, one of the major tribes in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, brings the rich culture of the far North-eastern State to the national stage.
The trailer of the film will be launched by Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju on May 6 at the National Media Centre in the national capital.
It has been filmed entirely in the Tagin language. Directed by Tapen Natam, the film brings the rich culture, tradition, and local movie-making initiatives of the North-eastern State. The story weaves around the lives of two young people who fall in love despite the trying conditions that test human resolve.
The movie depicts the songs, language, dress, customs, and food of the Tagin tribe, offering a rare glimpse into their way of life with the picturesque settings in the background, thus showcasing the natural beauty which the State has in plenty.
As the first film to be shot in the Tagin language, ‘Love in 90s’ is a landmark achievement for the Tagin community and Arunachal Pradesh as a whole. The film is full of love, drama and comedy, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region and brings it to a wider audience
The movie makes an attempt to portray the challenges faced by the people of the region and the resilience with which they tackled them.
“It is a celebration of Arunachal Pradesh’s culture and tradition and a tribute to the resilience of its people,” says Natam.
