President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday lauded the Government for taking “unprecedented decisions” for the pride of the tribal communities even as she expressed gratitude to the people of the country for electing a stable government for two consecutive terms.
“For the first time India started celebrating Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s birthday (Nov 15) as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. Recently, my Government paid tribute at national level to Mangarh Dham revolutionaries. More than 36,000 tribal dominated villages are being developed under Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Gram Yojana. Today more than 400 Eklavya Model Schools have opened in tribal areas,” President Murmu said addressing the customary joint session of both the houses of Parliament.
“My government has awakened the aspirations of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. Now that basic facilities are reaching them, these people are able to see new dreams,” she emphasized.
In almost nine years of my government’s term, the people of India have witnessed many positive changes for the first time, she said adding the biggest change is that today every Indian’s confidence is at its peak and the world’s outlook towards India has changed.
She outlined the Government is constantly trying to get rid of every sign of ‘slave mentality’. “What was once Rajpath is now the Kartavya Path,” she asserted and cited how the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is making every Indian proud.
Thanking the people for electing a stable government, she said, the stable and decisive government has enabled us to deal with the biggest calamity in 100 years and the situation that arose thereafter.
“My decisive government has always kept the country’s interest paramount and shown the will-power to completely transform the policies and strategies when required. From surgical strike to a firm crackdown on terrorism, from a befitting response to every misadventure from LoC to LAC, from abrogation of Article 370 to Triple Talaq, my government has been recognized as a decisive government,” President Droupadi Murmu said.
She also highlighted India’s progress in the rail, road, aviation, solar, education, digital, start-ups, defence, telecommunications and, agriculture sectors among others.
