Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a scathing attack against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the JMM-led Government he leads and its schemes terming them as “anti-tribal” and accusing them of “destroying the State”.
“The CM (Hemant Soren) of the State is a tribal but this Government is anti-tribal. During their tenure, corruption peaked and the time for middlemen and grabbers of tribal land came. Mineral resources are being looted and Jharkhand has been destroyed,” Shah alleged.
“When (former Chief Minister) Raghubar Das received full majority, our Government started projects for education, road and electricity. But then came a Government that destroyed Jharkhand. Is Hemant government working for the welfare of the State separated from Bihar by Atal ji fulfilling a long-pending demand,” he said.
Amit Shah’s rally in Chaibasa was chosen as it was in this region that the BJP had lost two Lok Sabha seats in 2019 despite the Modi wave. The BJP lost in Singhbhum to JMM’s Vijay Hansda and in Rajmahal to former CM Madhu Koda’s wife and Congress candidate Geeta Koda. These two seats figure among the 160 seats where the BJP had lost last time round and which it is aiming to win in 2024
Shah also attacked the Hemant Government over the State’s recent domicile issue besides its schemes. The Jharkhand Assembly had recently cleared two legislations with one fixing 1932 land records to determine people’s domicile status and the other increasing reservation to 77% from 60% in various categories for SC, STs and others.
“The youth was deceived in the name of jobs. Children were deceived in the name of education. The tribal community was deceived in the name of welfare schemes. The greed for vote bank can’t be bigger than tribal welfare,” Shah said.
“The state government cannot simply loot the funds being sent by (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji for the development of tribals. We condemn the heinous sin of land grab that is being committed here and the Bharatiya Janata Party will fight against it,” Amit Shah said
“I have got along with me a long list of development work. I want to ask Hemant Bhai, what has he done apart from indulging into vote bank politics and ignoring the benefit of the tribals. This time people in the state want to change the useless and corrupt government,” he said.
He also alleged “intruders are forcefully marrying tribal girls and grabbing their land”. “I warn Hemant Soren government today, stop this audacity by intruders. Otherwise, people of Jharkhand won’t forgive you,” he asserted.
