Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday promised to come up with a policy for artistes next year as he addressed the gathering at the conclusion of the two-day Jharkhand Adivasi Mahotsav, held at Birsa Munda Smriti Udyan here.
The Chief Minister stressed that song and dance were integral parts of Jharkhand culture and that his government would prepare concrete action plans to promote the artistes.
Incidentally, the tenure of his government will expire this year and he will be able to fulfill the new promise if voted to power again.
Presentations by noted playback singer Jyoti Sahu, also a daughter of soil, in various Jharkhandi languages, a tribal fashion show, various indigenous dance forms, stalls displaying and selling traditional ornaments, garments and cuisines were among the key attractions on the concluding day. A free health check-up organised on the premises too pulled in a large number of visitors from far flung areas.
While presentations by Assam artist N Bora mesmerized one and all at the concluding ceremony, visitors enjoyed the events to the fullest as the weather too did not play spoilsport.
State’s new Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar had inaugurated the two-day extravaganza in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday to mark the International Day Of World’s Indigenous Peoples. This was the third year of the celebrations of the special day.
